We loved Bahamas’<\/strong> opening set last Friday at Soho<\/strong> in Santa Barbara <\/strong>(pictured above).\u00a0 <\/strong>They’ve got it all (well, except for a drummer and a couple other instruments, but who needs the distractions?).\u00a0 All focus is rightly on Afie Jurvanen’s<\/strong> tasteful but impassioned guitar-playing and well-crafted songs, which range thematically from pathos (Lost in the Light<\/strong><\/em>) to bathos (Hockey Teeth<\/strong><\/em>).\u00a0 At Soho, Jurvanen made that ole Silvertone<\/strong> (previously owned by Link Wray<\/strong>, according to Afie) snarl and sing throughout their set.\u00a0 Bahamas have rightly garnered the attention of Kathleen Edwards, Feist<\/strong> (Afie used to play guitar in Feist’s band), and Jack Johnson<\/strong> amongst others.\u00a0 Look for them to continue to ascend.\u00a0 Bahamas will be playing this Saturday at Pasadena’s One Colorado Courtyard<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 You can also check out their entire KCRW<\/strong> segment HERE<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
