Whether it&#8217;s J-Fal admirably imitating <strong>Neil Young<\/strong> or honoring <strong>Springsteen<\/strong> with a week&#8217;s worth of tributes, or Fallon and The Roots (OK, <strong>Carly<\/strong> too) killing on their cover of <em><strong>Call Me Maybe<\/strong><\/em>, this gang is proving they are kool and have their finger on the pulse of musical entertainment (don&#8217;t get us wrong, we still have unlimited respect for <strong>Letterman<\/strong>, Paul Shaffer and band).<\/p>\n<p>The Fallon Show&#8217;s musical acumen was proven yet again Friday night when Vancouver&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/japandroids.com\/\"><strong>Japandroids<\/strong><\/a> were invited to play and proceeded to tear the roof off of Fallon&#8217;s studio.\u00a0 This is a duo that clearly knows how to bring the energy and passion.\u00a0 We are suckers for drummers and other band-members who are so enamored with a band&#8217;s songs that they can&#8217;t help but lip-sync throughout with the lead singer.\u00a0 Just watch the performances below in which drummer <strong>David Prowse<\/strong> can&#8217;t resist mouthing every word behind guitarist<strong> Brian King<\/strong>.\u00a0 The band&#8217;s irrepressible energy is best seen in the first song below,<em><strong> Fire&#8217;s Highway<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0<strong> Prowse&#8217;s<\/strong> (intentionally?) off-key backup vocals on the song initially jar, but the duo&#8217;s energy and passion are so infectious that by song&#8217;s end you wouldn&#8217;t have Prowse&#8217;s vocals any other way.\u00a0 In the second song, The Roots&#8217; guitarist <strong>&#8220;Captain&#8221; Kirk Douglas<\/strong> joins Japandroids for an incendiary version of <em><strong>The House That Heaven Built<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Japandroids&#8217;<\/strong> new album is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.polyvinylrecords.com\/store\/index.php?listID=181\"><strong>Celebration Rock<\/strong><\/a>, which is getting rockin&#8217; raves across the realm.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Fire&#8217;s Highway:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nbc.com\/assets\/video\/widget\/widget.html?vid=1405682\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"512\" height=\"347\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The House That Heaven Built:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nbc.com\/assets\/video\/widget\/widget.html?vid=1405634\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"512\" height=\"347\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As we were saying, Jimmy Fallon, The Roots and their staff are quickly establishing themselves as the best late-night-TV musical option.
