Kim&#8217;s<\/strong>, <strong>Cut Copy&#8217;s<\/strong>, <strong>Phoenix&#8217;s<\/strong>, etc. (not a knock on these bands, just a comment on the burgeoning genre).\u00a0 So it has come as a sweet surprise to catch the band&#8217;s <strong>Michael Angelakos<\/strong> and <strong>Ian Hultquist<\/strong> making the radio rounds and playing unplugged.\u00a0 Finally our focus has been drawn to the band&#8217;s songwriting and, it turns out, well-crafted, poignant lyrics.\u00a0 As opposed to the more cheery sounding synths and sonorities of their prior recordings, their second album, <strong>Gossamer<\/strong>, evinces a darker, more intelligent depth below its surface.\u00a0 And all of it has thankfully come to the fore with these unplugged performances.\u00a0 On <strong>Gossamer<\/strong>, songwriter <strong>Michael Angelakos<\/strong> lyrically addresses alcoholism, hospital stints and suicidal tendencies.\u00a0 Watch\/listen to some new and old songs performed recently on<strong> 89.3 The Current<\/strong>, <strong>98.7FM Penthouse<\/strong> and <strong>NPR&#8217;s Tiny Desk<\/strong>.\u00a0 Bravo!<\/p>\n<p>The lyrics of stand-out song <em><strong>Take a Walk<\/strong><\/em> follow the videos.\u00a0 Spoken\/sung like a Greek lad.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Passion Pit - Take a Walk (acoustic) (Live on 89.3 The Current)\" width=\"635\" height=\"357\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YLIsg5gpFQw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
