{"id":14998,"date":"2013-01-31T09:25:08","date_gmt":"2013-01-31T17:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/?p=14998"},"modified":"2013-01-31T09:25:08","modified_gmt":"2013-01-31T17:25:08","slug":"new-iron-wine-album-ghost-on-ghost-coming-listen-to-new-song-lovers-revolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/2013-01\/new-iron-wine-album-ghost-on-ghost-coming-listen-to-new-song-lovers-revolution\/","title":{"rendered":"New Iron &#038; Wine Album &#8220;Ghost On Ghost&#8221; Coming&#8211;Listen to New Song &#8220;Lovers&#8217; Revolution&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344_c_w_450_h_450.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-14999\" alt=\"344_c_w_450_h_450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344_c_w_450_h_450.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344_c_w_450_h_450.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344_c_w_450_h_450-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/344_c_w_450_h_450-400x400.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s not beat around the bush shall we?\u00a0 <strong>Mr. Iron &amp; Wine, Sam Beam<\/strong>, the leader\/singer\/songwriter of the band is one of the best songwriters extant.\u00a0 In particular he is our finest lyricist.\u00a0 There.\u00a0 Said.<\/p>\n<p>We have loved Iron &amp; Wine since their initial appearance on <strong>Sub Pop<\/strong> (at the time a head-scratcher given the label&#8217;s rocking ways) in 2002 with the spare, plucky, much-loved<strong> Creek Drank the Cradle.<\/strong>\u00a0 Since then the &#8220;band&#8221; has released four more well-crafted studio albums and one of the best-ever rarities\/B-sides\/discards compilation (<strong>Around the Well<\/strong>).\u00a0 2011\u2019s <strong>Kiss Each Other Clean <\/strong>was a departure from the early acoustic, virtually-solo albums, with its big-band sounds and arrangements and added rock\/R&amp;B elements.\u00a0 Today Iron &amp; Wine began streaming <em><strong>Lovers&#8217; Revolution<\/strong><\/em>, the first track released from new album <strong>Ghost on Ghost<\/strong>, which will be released on<strong> IRS Day\u00a0<\/strong>(4\/15).\u00a0 Check out the jazzy song below, which wouldn&#8217;t have sounded out of place on an early <strong>Tom Waits<\/strong> album.\u00a0 In other words:\u00a0 we love it.<\/p>\n<p>The new album was recorded in New York and produced by Beam\u2019s longtime collaborator <strong>Brian Deck<\/strong> (<strong>Modest Mouse, Califone, Fruit Bats<\/strong>).\u00a0 Assisting were stellar musicians<strong> Rob Burger<\/strong> of <strong>Tin Hat Trio<\/strong>, <strong>Steve Bernstein, Tony Scherr, Kenny Wollesen<\/strong>, and <strong>Briggan Krauss<\/strong> of <strong>Sex Mob<\/strong>, jazz drummer <strong>Brian Blade<\/strong>, trombonist <strong>Curtis Fowlkes<\/strong> of the<strong> Jazz Passengers<\/strong>, bassist <strong>Tony Garnier<\/strong> (Bob Dylan&#8217;s band), cellist <strong>Marika Hughes, Maxim Moston<\/strong> and <strong>Doug Wieselman<\/strong> of <strong>Antony and the Johnsons<\/strong>, and <strong>Anja Wood<\/strong>.
