Except for a couple of short stints, this hasn’t been a halcyon winter for California surf-cats<\/strong>.\u00a0 Fellow dudes and dudettes: drastic measures are called for.\u00a0 We suggest checking out the duo Snowblink<\/strong> (Daniela Gesundheit<\/b> and Dan Goldman<\/b>) and doing as <\/strong>they counsel:\u00a0 praying for surf.\u00a0 Pray For Surf<\/strong><\/em> is the lead track off of the Toronto-via-Los Angeles duo’s cinematically sensuous sophomore album, Inner Classics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Inner Classics has been on repeat in our jukebox for the past month and warrants your undivided attention. If you dive in, you’ll hear beautiful compositions, Gesundheit’s spectral vocals, Goldman’s perfect accompaniment on various stringed instruments and winningly-unique arrangements.\u00a0 Gesundheit<\/strong> evidently wrote\u00a0Inner Classics<\/strong>\u00a0first on the icy shores of Lake Erie and then on the sunny shores of Malibu<\/strong>. The album title is taken from the traditional Chinese medicine text,\u00a0“Inner Classic,” or “Huang\u00a0Di\u00a0Nei\u00a0Jing”, written by several anonymous authors\u00a0between 300\u00a0and 100 B.C.E.\u00a0 You can hear each of these geographical locations and cultures in Inner Classics’ songs.<\/p>\n
