The Band’s beloved Levon Helm<\/strong> passed away last April at the age of 71.\u00a0 Thereafter the airwaves were jammed with tributes by musicians around the world, and it was heartening to see.\u00a0 Amongst others, My Morning Jacket, Roger Waters, Gregg Allman<\/strong>, Ray LaMontagne<\/strong> and G.E. Smith<\/strong> got together for a concert tribute to Levon.<\/p>\n

Check out below (via Rolling Stone<\/strong>) a revelatory rehearsal performance of The Band’s It Makes No Difference <\/em><\/strong>. While nothing will erase our fond memories of The Band<\/strong> performing the song at the Santa Barbara Bowl in 1976<\/strong> (with the incomparable Rick Danko<\/strong> leading the way), My Morning Jacket<\/strong> delivers a superb version of the song below. <\/p>\n

A resulting album, Love for Levon: A Benefit to Save the Barn<\/strong> will be released tomorrow.<\/p>\n
