We confess to being late to the Laura Marling<\/strong> <\/a>praise-party.\u00a0 While critics around the globe and other musicians we respect (Ryan Adams<\/strong> et. al) have been singing her praises for years, we have never fully understood the allure.\u00a0 But we’ve been wrong before in our premature evaluations.\u00a0 Marling will next week release her new album entitled Once I Was An Eagle<\/strong><\/em> (see cover above).\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em>We’ve caught smatterings of the new album and are more impressed than with her previous efforts.\u00a0 Please let us know what you think of Ms. Marling.\u00a0 To help in your assessment, Marling<\/strong> (now an LA-transplant) appeared on KCRW<\/strong> this morning and performed I Was An Eagle\/You Know (Medley)\u00a0<\/strong><\/em> from the album.\u00a0 Never has she sounded and played (see the open-tuned strumming in the video) more like one of her obvious influences, Joni Mitchell<\/strong>.\u00a0 We will certainly grant her intensity and seriousness of purpose.\u00a0 What say you?\u00a0 You can listen\/watch the full KCRW<\/strong> session HERE<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
