{"id":16980,"date":"2013-06-07T09:22:15","date_gmt":"2013-06-07T17:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/?p=16980"},"modified":"2013-06-07T09:24:52","modified_gmt":"2013-06-07T17:24:52","slug":"we-have-a-late-night-winner-watch-broken-social-scene-and-feist-on-fallon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/2013-06\/we-have-a-late-night-winner-watch-broken-social-scene-and-feist-on-fallon\/","title":{"rendered":"We Have A Late Night Winner: Watch Broken Social Scene and Feist on Fallon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a great week in late night music (see our last few posts), but by far the best of the lot was last night when Canada&#8217;s best performed on <strong>Late Night with Fallon Show<\/strong>.\u00a0 Two of our all-time favorites, <strong>Broken Social Scene<\/strong> and <strong>Feist<\/strong> (an original member of <strong>BSS<\/strong>), took over the <strong>Fallon<\/strong> studio and simply slaughtered. <strong>BSS<\/strong> is taking an extended break from action, but to celebrate their label <strong>Arts &amp; Crafts&#8217;<\/strong> 10-year anniversary (and the release of the commemorative album entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arts-crafts.ca\/x\/\"><strong>Arts &amp; Crafts: X<\/strong><\/a>), they have reunited to perform at this weekend\u2019s <strong>Field Trip Festival<\/strong> in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/2010-07\/broken-social-scenes-and-their-constituents\/\"><strong>We have written repeatedly<\/strong><\/a> about this entrancing entourage and their <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/2011-04\/a-broken-world-and-a-social-scene-in-ventura\/\">ebullient live shows<\/a><\/strong> before (including 2o11 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/2011-10\/hardly-strictly-bluegrass-festival-video-wrap-up\/\"><strong>Hardly Strictly Bluegrass<\/strong><\/a>).\u00a0 Now check them out on <strong>Fallon<\/strong> where they performed <strong><em>Almost Crimes<\/em><\/strong> from their epic <strong>You Forgot It In People<\/strong> album, followed by the web-exclusive of their classic <strong><em>7\/4 Shoreline<\/em><\/strong> from their 2005 eponymously-titled album. Check out Kevin Drew in standard fine form, a de rigeur leg-kick from Brendan &#8220;Can Can&#8221; Canning, the ferocious Feistian vocals, and the remainder of the lads driving the message home. This is a great band that we hope reunites permanently.
