Yesterday Saddle Creek<\/strong><\/a> released the fine new album from Jake Bellows<\/strong><\/a> (Neva Dinova<\/strong>) entitled New Ocean<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 We strongly urge you to avail yourselves of its stream below while you can.\u00a0 We have had it on repeat, and repeated listens continue to reap rewards.\u00a0 Sonically, we hear the influence of American Music Club, Josh Rouse<\/strong> and The Walkmen<\/strong>, along with some twangy elements.\u00a0 The opening title track is an immediate standout, as is Should You Ever Change Your Mind<\/strong><\/em>, but there’s not a clinker t0 be found.<\/p>\n

After fronting Neva Dinova<\/strong> for over 15 years, Bellows<\/strong> quit the band and moved to Los Angeles.\u00a0 Bellows subsequently hooked up with musician and engineer Ben Brodin, Heath Koontz (Neva Dinova), Todd Fink (The Faint), <\/strong>and Whispertown<\/strong> bandmate Morgan Nagler<\/strong>, amongst others.\u00a0 Collaboration, recording and performing ensued, ultimately leading to the recording and release of New Ocean<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n
