Sam Beam’s Iron & Wine<\/a><\/strong> has released one of the Best Albums of 2013<\/strong> with its Ghost to Ghost<\/strong><\/em> album (if it wasn’t for Trouble Will Find Me<\/strong>, we would say THE best).\u00a0 The 13-piece live band also put on one of the Best Concerts of 2013<\/strong> (again, only rivaled by The National’s<\/strong> shows) at the Unitarian Church in LA in June<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 Watch below as Beam<\/strong> and the band perform live for SiriusXM<\/strong> “Outlaw Country” three songs from Ghost on Ghost<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

First up is one of our favorites from Ghost on Ghost<\/strong><\/em>, the California-centric Desert Babbler<\/strong><\/em> <\/strong>in which a homesick Beam<\/strong> sings about himself: “You left to look for heaven, but you\u2019re far from that hard light tonight.”\u00a0 The band lays out fully on the song, with sax and all filling the void vivaciously.\u00a0 Next up is Grass Widow<\/strong><\/em>, with its jazzy mien that reminds a bit of Steely Dan<\/strong><\/em> (in the wake of their tour).\u00a0 Finally, there’s the Smokey<\/strong> miracle<\/strong>, Lean Into the Light<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 <\/strong>Oh, baby baby.\u00a0 Iron & Wine<\/strong> are still out on tour in support of Ghost on Ghost<\/strong><\/em>, and it would be a crime if you missed them when they come to your town (November 1st in Oakland and November 4th in Seattle).\u00a0 Check out the tour dates HERE<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
