The Flaming Lips<\/strong> and Tame Impala<\/strong> are playing the Santa Barbara Bowl<\/strong><\/a> tonight. It’s going to be a psychedelic love-fest that you better not miss.\u00a0 Following Halloween<\/strong> last night, the Bowl<\/strong> will end its season by featuring various Dia De Los Muertos<\/strong> activities and performances starting at 4:30pm<\/strong> before the concert at 6pm (set times are approximately: 6pm-Ray Fresco; 6:45 Tame Impala; 8:30 Flaming Lips)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Oddly enough, the best preparation for tonight’s festivities may not be listening to the featured artists themselves, but instead watching the collaboration by the Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne<\/strong> and the magnificent Moby<\/strong> on their perfect song\/video The Perfect Life<\/strong><\/em> <\/strong>off of Moby’s<\/strong> new, astoundingly-good Innocents<\/strong><\/em> album.\u00a0 We’ll have a rave review of Innocents<\/strong><\/em> soon, but for now you’ll have to trust us:\u00a0 go buy Innocents<\/strong><\/em> immediately HERE<\/strong><\/a> and be completely enraptured.\u00a0 The collaboration between Coyne<\/strong> and Moby<\/strong> makes such perfect sense that you have to wonder why it hasn’t happened before.\u00a0 Perhaps that’s just this imperfect life.<\/p>\n

Given the Dia De Los Muertos<\/strong> celebration and the usual love-fest that is a Flaming Lips<\/strong> concert, the song and video should get you in the perfect mood for the event.\u00a0 As Moby<\/strong> says about the video:\u00a0 “‘the idea for ‘the perfect life’<\/strong> video is pretty simple…wayne<\/strong> and i in mariachi costumes<\/strong> walking around L.A picking up a very random and disparate bunch of disenfranchised oddballs and leading them via trolley to a giant party on a roof overlooking L.A. while the sun sets.'”<\/p>\n
