We’ve said it once<\/strong><\/a>, we’ve said it twice<\/strong><\/a>, and we will say it evermore<\/strong><\/a>: Will Sheff’s Okkervil River<\/a><\/strong> has consistently produced some of the best albums in the post-millennium oeuvre.\u00a0 The most recent, The Silver Gymnasium,<\/strong><\/em> may be the crowning achievement.\u00a0 At a minimum it is one our favorite albums of 2013<\/strong>. And one of our favorite songs off the album is Pink Slips<\/strong><\/em>, which you can watch the band perform below via KDHX<\/strong>.\u00a0 We love the whole, rockin’ performance, but particularly from 3:34<\/strong> to the end.\u00a0 The ensemble is superb, but Lauren Gurgiolo’s<\/strong> guitar playing and Cully Symington’s<\/strong> drumming stand out (in addition to the high background vocals that smack of The Flaming Lips<\/strong>).\u00a0 After, check out two more greats from the band for KDHX<\/strong>, the fantabulous anthem Stay Young<\/strong> <\/em>and Where The Spirit Left Us<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 And at bottom you can listen to the entire KDHX<\/strong> session and an extra song.<\/p>\n
