Each location provides \u201ca variety of inventive programs that provide under-resourced students, ages 6\u201318, with opportunities to explore their creativity and improve their writing skills.\u201d\u00a0 To help fund the effort, each store sells various theme-related products created by the organization.\u00a0 In San Francisco the theme is &#8220;pirates.&#8221; We love pirates (except for those dastardly Somalian fakes) so it&#8217;s a must-stop for us.<\/p>\n<p>To benefit this fine cause some of the country&#8217;s best musicians have helped out <strong>826 National<\/strong> and recorded songs for a new benefit album entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youbemyheart.com\/\"><em><strong>You Be My Heart<\/strong><\/em><\/a><strong><\/strong>, which will be released on December 9th.\u00a0 Fantastic musical artists such as<strong> Mark Kozelek, Marissa Nadler, Fruitbats<\/strong> (RIP), <strong>Field Report, Bowerbirds <\/strong>and<strong> Maps and Atlases<\/strong> have contributed to the benefit album, which features songs written solely by<strong> 826 Valencia<\/strong> volunteer coordinator <strong>Devon Reed<\/strong>.\u00a0 Listen blow to four phenomenal tracks from the album, which you can eventually buy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youbemyheart.com\/\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 The songs covered by <strong>Kozalek, Nadler<\/strong>, and <strong>The Cloud Room<\/strong> in particular impress.\u00a0 <strong>Reed<\/strong> should quit his day job!\u00a0 No wait&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Listen below, give thanks and buy heartily!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/users\/56826586\" height=\"450\" width=\"100%\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are a few stops we HAVE to make when we go to San Francisco.
