Two of our musical favorites, Dawes<\/strong> and opener Blake Mills<\/strong>, are coming to the newly renovated Lobero Theater<\/strong><\/a> a week from today.\u00a0 If you like well-crafted songs, emphatic (but deft) playing and heavenly harmonies, you’re going to want to be at the Lobero<\/strong> next Wednesday.\u00a0 We have written <\/a>repeatedly about Dawes<\/strong><\/a> and raved in particular <\/a>about their superb local live sets.\u00a0 We have also written and interviewed<\/strong> <\/a>songwriter and outstanding guitar-player Blake Mills<\/strong>.\u00a0 Given that Mills used to be in a band with Dawes’ Goldsmith<\/strong> brothers<\/strong>, the combination of the two is a particularly potent musical mix. Both artists have been busy recently, with Dawes<\/strong> helping out The Killers<\/strong><\/a> on the latter’s new Christmas benefit song<\/strong>, and Mills<\/strong> coming off a well-received collaborative tour with Fiona Apple<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
