Despite being tipped off early by a very reliable source, we didn’t get wholly-hooked on Bonobo<\/strong> (Simon Green’s<\/strong> work) until late in the year.\u00a0 Bonobo’s<\/strong> album The North Borders<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>is a mood-master mix of electronica supplemented with soul and sophistication. We think very highly of the songs with vocals on the album, such as those featuring Grey Reverend<\/strong> and Erykah Badu <\/strong>(she’s everywhere these days–must have received a boost from\u00a0Wayne Coyne<\/strong>-generated sympathy).\u00a0 But our favorite track by far is the all-instrumental Cirrus<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Green<\/strong> builds and builds on Cirrus’<\/strong><\/em> <\/strong>spare opening platform, adding layers of bass and poly-percussion and ever-burgeoning bells.\u00a0 Check it out below, first in a shortened edition with the visual aid of their mesmerizing official video.\u00a0 Afterwards check out our preferred long-form version.<\/p>\n
