As we’ve written repeatedly<\/strong><\/a>, Karen O <\/strong>(Yeah Yeah Yeahs<\/strong><\/a>) can do virtually no wrong in our book.\u00a0 And her extra-curricular activities outside of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs<\/strong> are particularly compelling. She’s been especially busy recently, combining with\u00a0N.A.S.A.<\/strong> on a cool cover of Marley’s I Shot The Sheriff<\/em><\/strong> (which you can listen to below), and collaborating with Walter Martin<\/strong> (Walkmen<\/strong>) on a sweet love song entitled Sing to Me<\/strong><\/em> (which you can listen to at bottom) from Martin’s<\/strong> highly-anticipated new kids’-songs-for-grownups album We\u2019re All Young Together<\/i> <\/strong>(also featuring The National’s Matt Berninger<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

First up below, however, is Ms. O\u2019s<\/strong> well-crafted The Moon Song<\/strong><\/em> (from Spike Jonze’s<\/strong> movie Her<\/strong><\/em>).\u00a0 The song was written as a duet between the film’s characters played by Scarlett Johansson<\/strong> and Joaquin Phoenix<\/strong>, but listen below to a significantly improved recording with Ezra Koenig<\/strong> (Vampire Weekend<\/strong>).\u00a0 Listen as Karen and Ezra acquit themselves beautifully.<\/p>\n

Following is the I Shot the Sheriff<\/strong> <\/em>cover, which gradually overcomes the stigma encountered by anyone attempting to cover Marley<\/strong> and ultimately grips with its loping electronica and Karen O’s<\/strong> shimmering vocals.<\/p>\n

The pick of the litter, however, might be her collaboration with Walter Martin<\/strong> on Sing to Me<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 It’s a sweet song sung well by both, with Martin<\/strong> reminding us vocally of the great Eef Barzelay<\/strong>.\u00a0 We look forward to hearing the entire\u00a0We\u2019re All Young Together<\/i><\/strong> album.<\/p>\n
