We were thrilled to learn that one of our favorite artists, Sharon Van Etten<\/a>, <\/b>will release her next album, Are We There<\/i><\/b>, on May 27th <\/b>on Jagjaguwar<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Today Van Etten<\/strong> released the album’s first single, the superbly stentorian Taking Chances<\/em><\/b><\/strong>. \u00a0Those concerned that\u00a0Are We There\u00a0<\/i> <\/strong>might not live up to her last, Aaron Dessner<\/strong>-produced album (the tremendous Tramp<\/strong><\/em>) will be relieved and positively-stunned by Taking Chances<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 The new album was written and self-produced by Van Etten<\/strong>, and the perfect production on Taking Chances<\/strong><\/em> sets the bar very high and bodes incredibly well for the new album.\u00a0\u00a0 Listen below to the song’s big, dynamic sound, including Van Etten’s<\/strong> immaculate vocals, reverbed guitar and melodica-esque keyboards.\u00a0 And woodblock.\u00a0 Van Etten<\/strong> is one of the greats, and Taking Chances<\/strong><\/em> is our favorite song of 2014<\/strong> so far.<\/p>\n
