Last night at Carnegie Hall<\/strong>, The National\u2019s Matt Berninger, Aaron Dessner<\/strong>, and Bryce Dessner<\/strong> were joined by Sufjan Stevens<\/strong> on stage and Iggy Pop, New Order<\/strong>, and Patti Smith<\/strong> performed at this year\u2019s Tibet House US Benefit Concert<\/strong> in New York City.\u00a0 Proceeds from the concert benefit the Tibet House US<\/strong>, a nonprofit educational institution whose mission is to help preserve and restore Tibetan civilization and culture.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the evening was the combination of two of America’s best artists when Sufjan Stevens<\/strong> joined The National<\/strong> dudes onstage for rending readings of This Is The Last Time<\/strong><\/em> (hear Stevens<\/strong> show his formidable vocal worth on the song beginning at 3:24) and Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks<\/strong><\/em> <\/strong>(with Stevens again aiding).<\/p>\n
