We were first introduced to Aloe Blacc<\/strong><\/a> via the throwback sounds of his addicting 2010 song I Need A Dollar<\/strong><\/em> <\/strong>(listen\/watch at bottom).\u00a0 Since then Blacc’s<\/strong> developed further and deservedly gained a larger following (most recently appearing as a coach on The Voice<\/strong>) for his music and\u00a0Gaye<\/strong>-esque vocal shadings.\u00a0 He has just released new album Lift Your Spirit<\/strong> that’s been warmly received.<\/p>\n

We don’t know how it came about (possibly by running into The Voice’s<\/strong> other coach, Coldplay’s Chris Martin<\/strong>), but check out below as Aloe Blacc<\/strong> covers Coldplay’s<\/strong> new song Magic<\/strong><\/em> on BBC Radio 1<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 We particularly like the Walk on the Wild Side<\/strong><\/em> intro and the Lovin’ Spoonful<\/strong> outro, but really everything in between too.\u00a0 After Blacc’s<\/strong> interpretation, listen to Coldplay’s<\/strong> original off of their impending new album Ghost Stories<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 While we like Blacc’s<\/strong> cover of the song, we don’t think the song itself measures up to Coldplay’s<\/strong> high standards (and certainly not lyrically).\u00a0 We’re hoping there’s much more magic than Magic<\/strong><\/em> on Ghost Stories<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n
