Long-time favorite Tom Brosseau<\/strong><\/a> has purposefully slow-burned a superb songbook and musical legacy, and yet has managed to save his best songwriting for his new, career-capping album Grass Punks<\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 Throughout his career, Brosseau<\/strong> has collaborated with the talented likes of Angela Correa (Correatown), Sara Watkins, Hilary Hahn, Becky Stark (Lavender Diamond), Shelby Earl<\/strong> and John C. Reilly<\/strong>, amongst others.\u00a0 On Grass Punks<\/strong><\/em>, Brosseau has continued his collaborative ways and brought in Sean Watkins (Nickelcreek)<\/strong> to produce and to tour in support, and Watkins<\/strong> has proved to be the perfect musical confrere for Brosseau.\u00a0\u00a0 To get a feel for this well-wrought album and the Brosseau\/Watkins<\/strong> confab, check out their new Tiny Desk Concert<\/strong> on NPR<\/strong> below.\u00a0 The set features three of the finest songs from Grass Punks<\/strong><\/em> (though the album is riddled with many more).\u00a0 First up is Cradle Your Device<\/strong><\/em>, with its hilarous send-up of we humans’ device-driven dramaturgy.\u00a0 Next up (as Brosseau<\/strong> explains during the set) is the homage to his fellow-native North Dakotan food critic\/author Marilyn Hagerty<\/strong>.\u00a0 And finally, the duo perform the melancholy, but ultimately hopeful, Today Is A Bright New Day. <\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>With appearances in recent years on Prairie Home Companion<\/strong> and NPR<\/strong>, Brosseau continues to build on his brilliant career.\u00a0 Never has a singer-songwriter been more deserving of the spotlight.\u00a0 Do yourselves a huge favor, and go buy Grass Punks<\/strong><\/em> HERE<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 And make sure to not miss his act and tour<\/strong> <\/a>when it comes near to you.<\/p>\n
