Neil Young<\/strong> will on May 27th release his new album of cover songs entitled A Letter Home<\/strong><\/em>, which was “reproduced” by Jack White<\/strong> and Young.\u00a0 Check out Young<\/strong> below performing Bert Jansch’s<\/strong> song Needle of Death<\/em><\/strong> in a refurbished 1947 Voice-o-Graph<\/strong> vinyl recording booth at White’s Third Man Records<\/strong> in Nashville. Needle of Death’s<\/strong><\/em> inspiration for Young’s superb On The Beach<\/strong> <\/em>song Ambulance Blues<\/strong><\/em> is obvious (listen to it at bottom).\u00a0 Young told Rolling Stone<\/strong> back in 1992:<\/p>\n

“I was especially taken by Needle Of Death, such a beautiful and angry song. That guy was so good\u2026 And years later, on On The Beach, I wrote the melody of Ambulance Blues by styling the guitar part completely on Needle Of Death. I wasn\u2019t even aware of it, and someone else drew my attention to it.”<\/p>\n
