We’ve been falling all ourselves<\/strong><\/a> praising the first song (Taking Chances<\/strong><\/em>) released by Sharon Van Etten<\/a> <\/b>off of her impending album, Are We There<\/i><\/b>, (coming on May 27th <\/b>on Jagjaguwar<\/strong>)<\/a>\u00a0 <\/b>and the official video therefor<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Today Van Etten<\/strong> released another portentous song off the album, Every Time The Sun Comes Up<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0We love it in all its emotional honesty and humor.\u00a0 Van Etten<\/strong> had this to say about the new song to The New York Times<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n

“On a lark, she\u2019d played her band a demo of her singing the chorus. Van Etten didn\u2019t think much of the song, a wry, country-inflected sing-along, but \u201cat that time of day when we\u2019d already spent eight hours in the studio and I\u2019d checked in with everybody, asking, \u2018Are you really tired, don\u2019t you want to go home,\u2019 everyone kept saying, \u2018Let\u2019s go back to that song,\u2019 I was like, \u2018Have you lost your mind?\u2019\u201d She lets out a long laugh. \u201cI ended up just narrating,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m doing the vocals inside the control room while they play in the studio itself, and just pointing at people. Each verse is about someone else in that room. And everyone was laughing and saying, \u2018you have to keep those lyrics.\u2019<\/strong>”<\/p>\n
