While driving around in the Spring listening to KCRW<\/strong>, we were immediately mesmerized by a song (Moments<\/strong><\/em>) by LA’s own newish band, De Lux<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 And then…life and memory-lapse.\u00a0 So we were grateful for the reminder yesterday when the band appeared on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Check out first\u00a0 Moments<\/strong> <\/em>below, and if you like what you see and hear, then go below to watch the entire set on KCRW<\/strong>.\u00a0 KCRW is correct that the band resembles Talking Heads<\/strong> at times, but more importantly we hear early 80s Brit-bands A Certain Ratio,<\/strong> The Associates\u00a0<\/strong>and a bit of Public Image Ltd.<\/strong>\u00a0(KCRW also cites The Rapture<\/strong> as an influence.\u00a0 Not to be snarky, but really?\u00a0 When did The Rapture become a worthy benchmark?\u00a0 Puh-lease).<\/p>\n

Regardless, we like what we hear in De Lux<\/strong>.\u00a0 They’ve got a signature sound and style that is far more than the sum of their influences.\u00a0 KCRW<\/strong> likes ’em so much they’re having them kick off their Made in LA Music<\/strong> series at the Hammer Museum<\/strong> tomorrow (for free).<\/p>\n
