We’ve repeatedly voiced our appreciation<\/strong><\/a> for East Coast band Woods<\/strong><\/a> and their well-wrought and rendered psych-pop.\u00a0 Their new album, With Light and With Love<\/strong>, continues their qualitative revolution and is a joy to the ears, and made more interesting with its searching lyrical bent from songwriter Jeremy Earl<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 But where Woods<\/strong> really shines is live.\u00a0 Check out the vignettes below from their recent session on KEXP<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 With 60s and early-70s sounds clearly ringing in their ears, Woods delivers an outstanding set on KEXP.\u00a0 In addition to Earl’s<\/strong> great songwriting and vocals, guitarist Jarvis Taveniere<\/strong> really stands out here.<\/p>\n

The first song below, Leaves Like Glass<\/strong><\/em>, is sweet and soulful, followed by\u00a0Green’s the Color<\/strong><\/em> featuring Taveniere<\/strong> on a Teardrop 12-string<\/strong> electric.\u00a0 That’s beauty right there.\u00a0 Next up is Shepherd<\/strong><\/em>, with Taveniere<\/strong> once again regaling with sweet and deft slide guitar notes.\u00a0 And finally, for those that like an extended jam, check out the new album’s title track, With Light and With Love,<\/strong><\/em> at bottom.\u00a0 The finale has it all, but especially superb ensemble interplay.<\/p>\n
