Late last week while we were away, Gonz\u00e1lez<\/span><\/strong> (of the groovy Junip<\/strong><\/a>, Red White + Blue’s Arthur Russell Tribute Album<\/strong><\/a>, etc.) offered up the first single (Every Age<\/strong><\/em>) and video from his next album, Vestiges & Claws<\/em><\/strong>, which will be released February 17th<\/sup><\/strong> 2015 <\/strong>on Mute<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 Every Age<\/strong> <\/em>has been on repeat at Chez Lefort<\/strong> every since.\u00a0 The melody and message are deceptively simple and heartening, and in the face of the surrounding turmoil, a great encouragement to the world.\u00a0 The lyrics can be found below the video.<\/p>\n

The inspirational video for the song below uses 360\u00b0 technology to create an all-sensory experience of space.\u00a0 Directed by Simon Morris<\/strong> and Chris Higham<\/strong>, the video was produced by global collective Eyes In Space<\/strong> whose aim is “to mesh artistic experiment with scientific innovation to open new worlds.” Gonz\u00e1lez<\/span><\/strong> sums up the video and song thus: \u201cThe lyrics [of \u201cEvery Age\u201d] fit well in the sense of living on a globe together and how it can make us wonder and reflect on how we can make this the best trip ever!”\u00a0 Amen!\u00a0 Watch the 360\u00b0 version of this galactic journey here<\/a><\/strong>, and watch the standard version below.<\/p>\n

Gonz\u00e1lez<\/span> ‘s<\/strong> self-produced new album is his first solo album in seven years and is filled with all-original material centered around concepts of civilization, humanism and solidarity.\u00a0 About the album, Gonz\u00e1lez<\/span><\/strong> has said (though Every Age<\/strong> <\/em>doesn’t reflect the following):\u00a0 “I started out thinking that I wanted to continue in the same minimalistic style as on my two previous records, but once I started the actual recordings I soon realized that most of the songs turned out better with added guitars and a more beat-like percussion, and with more backing vocals.”<\/p>\n
