Most of the year, the musical Niagara Falls flies by full-flow.\u00a0 We all shakily extend our cups into the roaring sound-cavalcade and pull out what we can.\u00a0 But we miss so much, only to find it later downstream in the lazier river.\u00a0 It’s in this Thanksgiving<\/strong> season that the waters slow somewhat.\u00a0 Thankfully.\u00a0 Given the slowing and current events, now seems as good a time as any to pull this one up from January of this year.\u00a0 The world is again Dylan-agog<\/strong> following the outstanding release of the updated Basement Tapes<\/strong> <\/em>box sets (guilty as charged: we can’t stop listening to the poor-man’s version, the two-disc Basement Tapes Raw<\/strong><\/em><\/a> distillation).\u00a0 And one of our favorites, Phosphorescent<\/strong>, just rolled through Los Angeles and wowed the cognoscenti once again (missed it–more regrets).\u00a0 Combining the two, watch as Phosphorescent<\/strong> <\/em>(leader Matthew Houck<\/span><\/strong> solo) covers Dylan’s Tomorrow Is A Long Time<\/em><\/strong> for WNRN<\/strong>.<\/em> \u00a0<\/em><\/strong>It’s a faithful rendering, but aided immeasurably by Houck’s world-weary vocals.\u00a0 Phosphorescent<\/strong> is known for their outstanding covers (Vampire Weekend’s<\/strong> Ya He<\/strong><\/em><\/a>y<\/strong><\/em>, Jesse Colter’s<\/strong> Storms Never Last<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, and Randy Newman\u2019s Days of Heaven <\/em><\/strong><\/a>to name a few).\u00a0 This one fits nicely into Phosphorescent’s<\/strong> covers quiver.\u00a0 Happy Thanksgiving y’all!<\/p>\n
