There have been some obvious voids in the music world that are now being filled.\u00a0 First was Jamie T.’s<\/strong> outstanding comeback (Carry On The Grudge<\/strong><\/em><\/a>) after a four-year hiatus.\u00a0 We now have news that Modest Mouse<\/strong><\/a> will release their first album since 2007<\/strong> when they release Strangers to Ourselves<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0on March 3rd<\/strong> (via Epic Records<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Today Modest Mouse<\/strong> released the first single from the new album, Lampshades on Fire<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 You can check it out below.\u00a0 Speaking of Jamie T.,<\/strong> while Lampshades on Fire<\/strong><\/em> harkens back to great Modest Mouse<\/strong> songs of yore, we hadn’t previously drawn the (now-obvious) comparison to Jamie T., <\/strong>but we hear it in spades on Lampshades on Fire<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Come to think of it, a tour in 2015 combining Modest Mouse<\/strong> and Jamie T.<\/strong> would be a fantastic gift to the music world, and would garner Jamie T.<\/strong> some much-needed, much-deserved attention in the United States.\u00a0 What say you fellas?\u00a0 Lampshades on Fire<\/strong><\/em> is on sale now at the usual outlets.<\/p>\n
