href=\"http:\/\/daniellanois.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Daniel Lanois<\/strong><\/a> has successfully mined a new vein with his 2014 electronic\/ambient album, <strong><i>Flesh and Machine<\/i><\/strong>.\u00a0 Despite initially having two strikes against it with us (first, <strong>Lanois<\/strong> is stuck behind an electronic gear-stack, and second, the album is sans-vocals), we have slowly been won over by the electric-avenue album.\u00a0 We implicitly trust <strong>Lanois<\/strong> when it comes to music and the emotional heft thereof.\u00a0 Rarely has an artist held a divining rod so masterfully and accurately dowsed the musical waters so well for its heart.\u00a0 Initially nonplussed by<strong> Lanois&#8217;s<\/strong> new format, with stricter attention and time we have come full circle on <em><strong>Flesh and Machine<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Today <strong>NPR<\/strong> released its <strong>Tiny Desk Concert<\/strong> (set list at bottom) featuring <strong>Lanois,<\/strong> deft drummer <strong>Brian Blade<\/strong>, and nimble bassist <strong>Jim Wilson<\/strong> performing three songs from the album.\u00a0 Check out their performances below and pay close attention.\u00a0 You will likely find, as we did, that <strong>Lanois<\/strong> has overcome the soul-less mien of electronic\/ambient music.\u00a0 An impressive performance by a
