This is starting to be a habit.\u00a0 Just last week<\/strong><\/a>, while in a Feist-induced<\/strong> haze, we stumbled upon producer\/performer Mocky<\/strong><\/a> and his ethereal song Howling At The Moon<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 Now comes another new song, The Fortress<\/strong><\/em>, off of his new acoustic-based EP Living Time: The Moxtape Vol. II. \u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/em>The Fortress<\/strong><\/em> features the ivory-flourishes of revered pianist\/composer Chilly Gonzales <\/strong>(along with Molly Rodger <\/strong>on viola and Jordan Katz <\/strong>on trumpet\/trombone).\u00a0 Turns out that Mocky<\/strong> started playing music with Feist<\/strong> in Berlin<\/strong> in the mid-2000s in what he has dubbed the “pre-D.M.<\/strong>” period there, and the new EP and his next album (this summer’s Key Change<\/strong><\/em>) offer reconsidered respites from the current electro-assault on the masses.\u00a0 Amen, Mocky<\/strong>, we’re all ears.<\/p>\n

Just listen below to the jazzy-flow of The Fortress<\/strong><\/em>, which opens brilliantly in the key of Brian Wilson<\/strong> before segueing into a soothing R&B motif<\/strong>, all the while perfectly embellished and accented by the deft playing of Gonzales, Katz<\/strong> and Jordan<\/strong> (in addition to Mocky<\/strong> himself).\u00a0 It’s been on repeat all day in Chez Lefort<\/strong>.\u00a0 Bravo!<\/p>\n
