Austin\u2019s Sweet Spirit<\/a><\/strong> is soon to be touring as openers for faves Spoon<\/strong>, and we can’t wait to catch ’em at the Wiltern in LA on May 30th.\u00a0 To further the intertwining of the two bands, Sweet Spirit<\/strong> and Spoon\u2019s Britt Daniel<\/strong> recently collaborated on a great new song entitled Have Mercy<\/strong><\/em>, which you can listen to below (lyrics at bottom).\u00a0 Spoon’s<\/strong> frequent producer, Mike McCarthy<\/strong>, recorded the song and will produce Sweet Spirit\u2019s<\/strong> debut album coming this summer.\u00a0 We love everything about Have Mercy<\/strong><\/em>, including Sabrina Ellis’s<\/strong> vocals, the synth-rumble, the clicking drums, Daniel’s\/others’ multi-tracked harmonies.\u00a0 And especially that bass line that bubbles up intermittently.\u00a0 And the abrupt ending.\u00a0 A great track!<\/p>\n

The single is backed by Sweet Spirit’s<\/strong> cover of Spoon’s Paper Tiger<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
