It’s that time of year.\u00a0 In the next month-plus the best of our athletes will head toward the California State Track and Field Championships<\/strong>, NCAA Championships<\/strong>, NAIA Championships<\/strong>, USA National Championships<\/strong>, and eventually the World Championships<\/strong>.\u00a0 For some athletes their season\/career is complete, all effort given and exploited in their exploits.\u00a0 Some may have remorse (or joy) in being done.\u00a0 Regardless, as Stephen Malkmus<\/strong> wrote:\u00a0 “Carry on, it’s a marathon<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

As we’ve done in the past (HERE<\/a>, HERE<\/a>, HERE<\/a> and HERE<\/a>), we add a season-end song to the Track and Field Mixtape<\/strong>:\u00a0 Sprinter<\/strong><\/em>, the title track of Torres’<\/a><\/strong> brand new album that is justly receiving critical huzzahs.\u00a0 May this headstrong song serve as encouragement on any and all levels.\u00a0 First we sprint.\u00a0 And then we run.\u00a0 Choose to run.\u00a0 Choose the sun.<\/p>\n
