{"id":24111,"date":"2015-06-26T22:54:57","date_gmt":"2015-06-27T06:54:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/?p=24111"},"modified":"2015-06-27T06:38:46","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T14:38:46","slug":"the-week-in-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/2015-06\/the-week-in-music\/","title":{"rendered":"The Week in Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/LifeGuarding.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-24114\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/LifeGuarding-650x580.jpg\" alt=\"LifeGuarding\" width=\"635\" height=\"567\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/LifeGuarding-650x580.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/LifeGuarding-150x134.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.thelefortreport.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/LifeGuarding-448x400.jpg 448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After <strong>Charleston<\/strong>, we&#8217;ve been away.\u00a0 Guarding our lives.\u00a0 <strong><em>M<span class=\"st\">a\u00f1ana <\/span><\/em><\/strong><span class=\"st\">tu<\/span><span class=\"st\">rned<\/span><span class=\"st\"> into<\/span><em><span class=\"st\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><strong><em><span class=\"st\">l<\/span><\/em><em>a semana<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 And here we are.\u00a0 But not here.\u00a0 Same as it ever was.\u00a0 Some things are looking up though.\u00a0 Against all odds.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s to your health and love.<\/p>\n<p>While we were away, we spotted some magical musical moments this past week.\u00a0 Below are our favorites from the week.<\/p>\n<p>We will confess that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.luceromusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lucero<\/strong><\/a> has never registered the highest on our rock n&#8217; roll Richter scale.\u00a0 But perhaps we&#8217;ve been too hasty.\u00a0 This week the band released a new song that demanded repetition, if for no other reason than they braved to mention one of the all-time greats,\u00a0 <strong>Warren Zevon<\/strong>, in the song&#8217;s title.\u00a0 The band will soon release <em><strong>All A Man Should Do<\/strong><\/em> on Sept. 18th, and this week dropped the lead single, <em><strong>Went Looking For Warren Zevon&#8217;s Los Angeles.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em>The song is a touching look back on life in music in the modern world.\u00a0 About the record, which also pays homage to <strong>The Replacements<\/strong> but especially <strong>Big Star<\/strong>, leader <strong>Ben<\/strong> <strong>Nichols<\/strong> said: &#8220;I was 15 years old in 1989. This record sounds like the record I wanted to make when I was 15. It just took 25 years of mistakes to get it done.&#8221;\u00a0 Stuff happens, and happened in spades to greats <strong>Zevon, Paul Westerberg <\/strong>and<strong> Alex Chilton<\/strong> along the way.\u00a0 Such is life.\u00a0 A great new song here from <strong>Lucero<\/strong>.\u00a0 Check it out below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4j8d9ZKySPs\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In repeat news, great Omaha-punk band, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desaparecidosband.com\/\">Desaparecidos<\/a> <\/strong>(<strong>Conor Oberst\u2019s<\/strong> punk ensemble) has just released <em><strong>Payola<\/strong><\/em>, their first album in 13 years.\u00a0\u00a0 Watch below as <strong>Conor<\/strong> and crew slay the song, <em><strong>City On The Hill<\/strong>, <\/em>on the <strong>Seth Meyers<\/strong> show.\u00a0 So good!!<\/p>\n<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.theplatform.com\/p\/NnzsPC\/widget\/select\/media\/qx67uwUC9Eh0?carouselID=188616\" width=\"625\" height=\"425\" frameborder=\"0\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>And then below check out different sounds from the punk rock band\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/titusandronicus.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Titus Andronicus<\/a> <\/strong>and lead singer<strong> Patrick Stickles<\/strong>.\u00a0 While we await the release of their new album, <em><strong>The Most Lamentable Tragedy<\/strong><\/em>, listen as <strong>Stickles<\/strong> and the boys yield a new song off the album, <em><strong>Come On, Siobhan<\/strong><\/em>, which pays tribute to the Irish sounds of the <strong>Pogues <\/strong>and<strong> Dexy&#8217;s Midnight Runners<\/strong>, with a sprig, in the chorus, of <strong>Stiff Little Fingers<\/strong>.\u00a0 But ultimately it is it&#8217;s own ode.
