We’ve been nervous for tomorrow and for today (as the song goes), and have lapsed into roaming around wjo;e plotting, plundering and placating (not necessarily in that order).\u00a0 While doing so, we happened upon Philadelphia’s buzz-worthy Girlpool<\/a><\/strong> and their charming song Chinatown<\/strong><\/em>, which you can listen\/watch immediately below.\u00a0 On Chinatown<\/strong><\/em>, Girlpool<\/strong> manages to sound (to our ears) like a Belly-<\/strong>crossed-with-Buellton <\/strong>variation on Yo La Tengo’s<\/strong> cover of Daniel Johnston’s<\/strong> Speeding Motorcycle<\/strong><\/em> (if you know what we mean–the latter can be listened to at bottom).\u00a0 Despite all of these references, Girlpool<\/strong> manages to make Chinatown<\/strong> <\/em>their own.\u00a0 If you like what you hear (and who doesn’t?), check out Girlpool’s Ideal World<\/em><\/strong> below Chinatown.<\/p>\n
