Yo La Tengo<\/a><\/strong> has always had a winning way with cover songs.\u00a0 Their 1990 album Fakebook<\/strong> <\/em>remains one of the finest cover albums ever recorded (their take on Daniel Johnston’s Speeding Motorcycle <\/em><\/strong><\/a>the perfect example). 15 years later, Yo La Tengo<\/strong> will next month release another covers\/originals album entitled Stuff Like That There<\/strong> (<\/em>via Matador Records<\/strong>).\u00a0 See the tracklist at bottom (Sun Ra<\/strong>, huh?).\u00a0 This week the band released their sweetly-ominous video for their cover of the Cure’s<\/strong> favorite, Friday I\u2019m in Love.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 YLT\u2019s<\/strong> version is a decidedly scaled-down acoustic framing, and we love it.\u00a0 We’re not exactly sure what to make of the video, however, which would have you believe that Georgia Hubley’s<\/strong> singing of the song possibly results in the earth being attacked by exploding pink hearts.\u00a0 It’s a great cover, but….\u00a0 Check it out below.<\/p>\n
