We’ve been wrapped up in life’s rich pageant and periscoping house concerts (led by Joseph Arthur<\/strong>–more on that soon). \u00a0And all the while the musical juggernaut gathered steam around the world as summer shifted into overdrive.<\/p>\n

For example, the Newport Folk Festival<\/strong> took place two weekends ago, and it came to a close when Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Dawes<\/strong> and a host of artists joined to memorialize Bob Dylan’s<\/strong> seminal “electric” set at the same festival exactly 50 years prior. \u00a0During that historic 1965 set, Dylan<\/strong> blew caution to the wind and shocked the folked-up crowd with an electrical instrument set that forever changed rock n’ roll (and folk) music as we know it. \u00a0That’s all. \u00a0In 2015 the artists on stage at Newport paid tribute and entitled the set ’65 Revisited<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0Even from afar, it was a sight filled with sounds to behold.<\/p>\n

\u201965 Revisited<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(setlist below) began with some song entitled Mr. Tambourine Man<\/strong><\/em>, performed by the great\u00a0Gillian Welch<\/strong> and Dave Rawlings.<\/strong>\u00a0 Next up was All I Really Want to Do<\/strong><\/em>, as done up by Willie Watson<\/strong>. \u00a0Welch<\/strong> and Rawlings<\/strong> then performed one of our favorite songs of all time, It’s All Over Now Baby Blue<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0Robyn Hitchock <\/strong>later played Visions of Johanna<\/em><\/strong>, which he dubbed “possibly the greatest song ever written, that’s all.”\u00a0 Dawes<\/strong>\u00a0then joined for a raucous Maggie\u2019s Farm<\/strong><\/em> and a crowd-sing\u00a0Like a Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0And history was made yet again.<\/p>\n
