We’ll take it! \u00a0While our first choice for a new album release would be The National<\/strong>, we will take any and all other options where the band’s brilliant lyricist\/singer, Matt Berninger<\/strong>, participates throughout. \u00a0Today Berninger<\/strong> and Brent Knopf<\/strong>\u00a0(Menomena\/Ramona Falls<\/strong>) have announced their new collaboration dubbed “EL VY<\/a><\/strong>” (\u201cpronounced like a plural of Elvis; rhymes with \u2018hell pie\u2019\u201d) and will soon release (on October 30th) their debut album entitled Return to the Moon\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>on 4AD<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0To boot, the duo will follow up the album release with North American and European tour dates. \u00a0Be still our hearts. \u00a0The dates\u00a0can be found way below after the album’s tracklist.<\/p>\n

As the PR for the album describes, Berninger<\/strong> and Knopf<\/strong> became friends while touring small West Coast clubs together nearly a decade ago. Thereafter they sent each other music and ultimately found time to record Return to the Moon<\/strong> this past winter and spring. Per the PR, Return to the Moon<\/strong><\/em> features \u201cBerninger\u2019s<\/strong> darkly funny, lyrical storytelling and his immediately identifiable sense of melody, offset by Knopf\u2019s<\/strong> playful, architectural arrangements and inventive production.” \u00a0“This record is more autobiographical than anything else I\u2019ve written,\u201d says Berninger<\/strong>, \u201cbut the details aren\u2019t true. It\u2019s written in the voices of a few invented characters, composites of different people \u2013 myself, my wife, and other people I was thinking about.\u201d The duo go on further to say that each of their main bands are preparing new music, Return to the Moon<\/strong><\/em> gives \u201ca glimpse into an alternate musical universe.\u201d \u00a0To get a feel, EL VY<\/strong> has offered up a lyric video to the title track, as seen below. \u00a0As described in the PR, it’s a more playful\/poppy musical environment in which Berninger still shines.<\/p>\n
