All-time favorite, Glen Hansard<\/a><\/strong> will soon release (on 9\/18 on Anti Records<\/strong>) his new solo album Didn’t He Ramble<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0Today Hansard<\/strong> has released the highly entertaining video for song Lonely Deserter<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0The video, which you can watch below, was directed by the talented\u00a0Myles O\u2019Reilly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

About the video, Hansard<\/strong> told the Wall Street Journal:<\/strong> \u201cI wanted to show that within a home there\u2019s a universe of though. \u00a0I grew up in a family and around families that put a lot of meaning into the Irish story, the working Irish, the stories of land struggles, of uprisings, of oppression and rebellion, the language of Ireland. And in homes all over the country the hedge school [depicted in the video] continues. Schools weren\u2019t teaching us a true history. It was an \u2018approved\u2019 version, watered down.\u201d<\/p>\n

About the song, Hansard<\/strong> says: \u201cThe song refers to the one who claims he was there fighting alongside his brothers and sisters, whereas he spent the whole time drunk or in hiding, with a head full of ghosts to haunt him through the years.\u201d<\/p>\n
