These are good (at least better) times for up and coming female artists\/bandleaders. \u00a0We have spent a ton of time this past year singing the praises of Courtney Barnett<\/a><\/strong>, Sylvan Esso<\/a><\/strong>, Torres<\/a><\/strong>, Tei Shi<\/a><\/strong>, and Hop Along<\/a><\/strong>, amongst others (with many more lurking). \u00a0Add to that list\u00a0Eskimeaux<\/a><\/strong>, who we’ve raved about\u00a0e<\/a>ver since first hearing their song I Admit I’m Scared<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0in April<\/a>. \u00a0The band is led by erstwhile Gabrielle Smith<\/strong><\/em> and their album O.K.<\/strong> <\/em>has been on repeat on the Lefort Jukebox<\/strong>. \u00a0Highly recommended, and especially for the coming-of-age set and lyrics-lovers. \u00a0To get a feel (though a softer version than that on the album and live), check out below Eskimeaux’s<\/strong>\u00a0superb Tiny Desk Concert<\/strong> on NPR<\/strong>. \u00a0Folly<\/strong><\/em> and I Admit I’m Scared<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>are bound to\u00a0appear on our Best Songs of 2015<\/strong> list.<\/p>\n
