After a hiatus, Atlanta’s\u00a0Deerhunter<\/a><\/strong> will soon release their new album,\u00a0Fading Frontier<\/strong><\/em>, on October 16th on 4AD. \u00a0Fading Frontier<\/em> <\/strong>is the the band’s seventh studio album\u00a0and was made by founding members Bradford Cox<\/strong>, Lockett Pundt<\/strong> and Moses Archuleta<\/strong>, together with bassist Josh McKay<\/strong>. Based on the two songs released below, the new album may well be their most accessible and straightforward to date.<\/p>\n

To get a feel for the new album, the band has released this week’s bountiful\u00a0Breaker<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>(on which\u00a0Cox<\/strong> and Pundt<\/strong> share lead vocals–a first for the band–as reflected in the video below) and the earlier funkified Snakeskin<\/em>. <\/strong>Check both songs’ official videos below. \u00a0Cox<\/strong> was hit by a car and hospitalized last year so Breaker’s<\/strong><\/em> lyrics truly resonate: \u00a0“Jack-knifed,\u00a0On the side-street crossing,\u00a0I’m still alive (and that’s something).”\u00a0Breaker’s<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>full yrics are at bottom.<\/p>\n
