Matt Berninger<\/strong>\u00a0(The National<\/strong>) clued the world early that the narratives on EL VY’s<\/a><\/strong> debut album, Return to The Moon<\/strong><\/em>, were still-more autobiographical sketches that didn’t fit in The National<\/strong> context. While we heard snatches in the first two released songs, Return to The Moon<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and I’m the Man to Be<\/strong><\/em><\/a>,\u00a0today’s release gives more credence to\u00a0Berninger’s<\/strong> claim. Watch below as EL VY<\/strong>\u00a0(Berninger<\/strong> and Brent Knopf<\/strong> from Menomena\/Ramona Falls<\/strong>) perform No Time To Crank The Sun\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>at Studio Brussel<\/strong>. \u00a0The song features Knopf’s<\/strong>\u00a0treacly melody lines and Beethoven-sonata<\/strong>\u00a0piano-bridges (the contrapuntal “Moonlight” to offset the title’s “Sun”?), and Berninger<\/strong>\u00a0captures well the harried musician’s life and how easy it is to lose sight of a loved one. \u00a0This is our favorite song yet from EL VY<\/strong> and bodes well for the entire album (which you can pre-order HERE<\/a><\/strong>). \u00a0The song’s lyrics are at bottom. \u00a0Aside: \u00a0the song’s title is strong evidence that Berninger’s move to Los Angeles has fully taken. \u00a0Crank the sun, dude!<\/p>\n
