Just like the President of the United States<\/a><\/strong>, we are fans of Aiofe O’Donovan<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0Ms. O’Donovan<\/strong> has a new album that will be released in January on Yep Roc<\/strong> entitled In The Magic Hour\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(produced by Tucker Martine<\/strong> and aided by Sara Watkins, Chris Thile, Sarah Jarosz<\/strong> and a host of others). \u00a0O’Donovan’s<\/strong> second album, In The Magic Hour<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0was kindled by\u00a0her Irish grandfather’s passing. \u00a0O’<\/strong>Donovan<\/strong> has described the album as \u201can ode to the cycle of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

To get a feel, you can watch O’<\/strong>Donovan<\/strong> below as she performs an unplugged version that captures well the format for her solo tour with Glen Hansard<\/strong>, which begins tonight in Los Angeles at the Walt Disney Concert Hall<\/strong>. \u00a0Donovan impresses here with her pure voice that, for us, combines elements of\u00a0Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones<\/strong> and Sally Ellyson<\/b> (of Hem<\/strong>). \u00a0<\/b>High praise in our book.<\/p>\n
