this year&#8217;s mix. \u00a0Apologies especially to multi-talented artist\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bloodorange.nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blood Orange<\/a> <\/strong>(<strong>Devonte Hynes<\/strong>), whose song <em><strong>Sandra&#8217;s Smile<\/strong> <\/em>and video still mattered much at year&#8217;s end. \u00a0The song is a moving requiem to, among way too many others, <strong>Sandra Bland<\/strong> (the 28-year-old woman found dead in a jail cell in Waller County, Texas after being detained for a minor traffic violation in mid-July).<\/p>\n<p>Musically, <em><strong>Sandra\u2019s Smile<\/strong><\/em> is flawless, appropriately-moody R&amp;B, with the heart of the matter found (for us) in the saxophone moments. \u00a0Lyrically, devastation, inquiry and resolve (lyrics at bottom). \u00a0That&#8217;s all.<\/p>\n<p>The black and white video is superb. \u00a0Bravo!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" words she said weren\u2019t faint.<br \/>\nClosed our eyes for a while, but I still see Sandra\u2019s smile.<\/p>\n<p>Can you see it in my face?<br \/>\nHad enough for today.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s hard for me to to stay in place unless I force myself awake.<\/p>\n<p>Look, an hour ago, I read Sybrina\u2019s quote.<br \/>\nI mean, why should she forgive?<br \/>\nD\u2019we lose you if, we
