Now resident in LA, new (to us) band\u00a0Alyeska<\/a> <\/strong>was\u00a0formed by Montana singer-songwriter Alaska Reid<\/strong>. Reliable sources speak highly of the band and their live performances (they play the Bootle<\/a>g\u00a0Theater<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in LA on January 16th). \u00a0Based on their most recent song, Medicine River<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, below we like what we hear. \u00a0Between Reid’s<\/strong> compelling Joni Mitchell\/Rickie Lee Jones-by-way-of- Laura Marling<\/strong> vocals and the band’s\u00a0Factory<\/strong>-guitar sounds that smack of Joy Division\/New Order<\/strong>, we are all in. \u00a0Word is that the song’s producer\/engineer, John Agnello<\/strong> (Kurt Vile, Phosphorescent, Hop Along, Alvvays<\/strong>, etc., etc.), will helm the production of\u00a0Alyeska’s<\/strong> debut album expected in 2016. \u00a0All of the above bodes well for Alyeska<\/strong>. \u00a0Listen in below.<\/p>\n
