We’ve been anxiously awaiting new music from Feist<\/strong>. \u00a0But not like this.<\/p>\n

It was disclosed yesterday on The Tragically Hip’s<\/strong><\/a> website that their frontman,\u00a0Gord Downie<\/strong>, has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Despite that very sad news, Downie<\/strong> and the band will go out on one last tour of Canada this summer, despite the diagnosis. \u201cThis feels like the right thing to do now, for Gord, and for all of us \u2026 So we\u2019re going to dig deep and try to make this our best tour yet.\u201d The tour (dates can be seen HERE<\/strong><\/a>) will coincide with the release of the band\u2019s latest album, Man Machine Poem<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Today, Feist<\/strong> posted the home-recorded cover of The Tragically Hip’s song Flamenco<\/strong><\/em> with the following tribute: “For Gord. We\u2019ll all be there this summer to see you bring out the new songs with your singular guts and panache…. and the golden oldies that are so golden. All my respect, admiration and love, Leslie.”<\/p>\n

The song and cover are beauty and the ache in Feist’s<\/strong> voice is palpable. \u00a0We wish miraculous remission for Downie<\/strong> and nothing but peace. \u00a0We won’t let it\u00a0it diminish our super capacity to love.<\/p>\n
