We’re long-time fans of Metronomy<\/a>, <\/strong>who today have released the beguiling track Night Owl<\/strong> <\/em>from their impending new album Summer ’08<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong>As with many of their prior releases, the new album was written, played and produced solely by Joseph Mount,\u00a0<\/strong>and was\u00a0recorded by the legendary Bob Clearmountain<\/strong> (Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie) and Neal Pogue<\/strong> (OutKast). Given the album’s title, it’s not hard to gather that with the new album Mount<\/strong> is glancing back to the band’s beginnings in 2008-09 (coincidentally starting with their Nights Out<\/strong><\/em> debut album).<\/p>\n

Night Owl<\/strong><\/em> is the perfect homage to that era with its masterful amalgam of then-newcomers\u00a0XX<\/strong>, Phoenix<\/strong> and Girls<\/strong>\u00a0sounds, but also with a dollop of Bowie <\/strong>and OutKast\u00a0<\/strong>thrown in for good measure. We love it! \u00a0Night Owl<\/strong> <\/em>bodes incredibly well for the new album, which you can pre-order HERE<\/strong><\/a>. Knowing Metronomy’s<\/strong> propensity for inventive music videos<\/strong><\/a>, we can’t wait for the Night Owl<\/strong><\/em> video, which is promised soon by the band. \u00a0The song’s lyrics are at bottom.<\/p>\n
