We’ve been anxiously awaiting The National’s<\/strong> upcoming new album, and the band has been gingerly revealing its new songs at its live shows. As the opening song of their encore last night in\u00a0LA the band brought out wunder-woman\u00a0Annie Clark (St. Vincent)<\/strong> to perform the tentatively-titled Prom Song 13th Century (Frankie & Johnny). <\/strong>\u00a0T<\/em>he band performed six new\u00a0songs (see setlist below) from the highly-anticipated album. Watch the video below on which Matt Berninger<\/strong> and Clark<\/strong> duet on the languorous beauty, even dancing together at the end. \u00a0As you can see below from Clark’s<\/strong> lyric sheet, it’s yet another song featuring the phrase “anonymous castrati<\/strong><\/em>.”<\/p>\n

As an added highlight last night,\u00a0The War On Drugs<\/strong> leader Adam Granduciel<\/strong> accompanied the band on guitar on a couple songs (on new song The Day I Die<\/strong><\/em> and on Terrible Love<\/strong><\/em>).<\/p>\n
