With the classical guitar and choral singers, the music reminds heavily of early <strong>Leonard Cohen<\/strong> (circa his seminal 1967 <em><strong>Songs<\/strong> <\/em>album&#8211;listen to <em><strong>Teachers<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>The Stranger Song<\/strong><\/em> at very bottom). \u00a0[Ed.: After writing of the <strong>Cohen<\/strong> influence, we discovered <strong>Leithauser<\/strong> has said this about the song: \u00a0&#8220;I<span class=\"s1\">\u2019ve listened to Leonard Cohen since I was a teenager. I\u2019ve tried so many times over the years to do that kind of thing actually, and \u201c<span class=\"s2\">In a Black Out<\/span>\u201d\u2014that\u2019s a song that I wrote mostly for The Walkmen record <span class=\"s2\"><i>Heaven<\/i><\/span>, but I could never get the part sounding good where I was playing.
