The Best Artist of the Year<\/strong>, Chance The Rapper<\/strong><\/a>, was the musical guest on SNL<\/strong> last night and rained down great gospel music on the proceedings. Dressed in a red overalls\/white shirt, Santa motif, Chance<\/strong> and NoName and an effervescent ensemble\u00a0delivered a powerful, moving performance of Finish\/Line. \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Watch below as\u00a0Chance <\/strong>rightly calls out and dances off of his fantastic drummer,\u00a0Greg Landfair Jr. \u00a0Chance<\/strong> also played piano and performed Same Drugs<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0with help from\u00a0Francis<\/strong>\u00a0(of Francis and the Lights<\/strong>) and (at 3:29) from astonishingly great backup singers (who dey?) who are truly a mere\u00a020 Feet From Stardom<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last night’s performance came almost a year-to-the-day from\u00a0Chance’s<\/strong> SNL-debut<\/strong> last year (watch his stupendous performance of Sunday Candy<\/strong><\/em> at bottom). We hereby petition SNL<\/strong> and Chance<\/strong> to make this an annual Christmas performance to eclipse the memories of\u00a0Bing Crosby<\/strong> and, err, umm…White Christmas<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n
