But then we got distracted. No more.<\/p>\n<p>Check out <strong>Phoebe Bridgers&#8217;<\/strong>\u00a0exquisite new song <em><strong>Smoke Signals<\/strong> <\/em>below. We know <strong>Bridgers<\/strong> has been hanging with the right people. <strong>Ryan Adams<\/strong> has produced her and compared her to <strong>Bob Dylan<\/strong>, and she&#8217;s been opening on tour for <strong>Conor Oberst<\/strong>\u00a0(who also, hmmm&#8230;wrote his own stellar\u00a0<em><strong>Smoke Signals<\/strong><\/em> song). But none of that prepared us for the depth and subtlety of <em><strong>Smoke Signals<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bridgers<\/strong> apparently wrote <em><strong>Smoke Signals<\/strong> <\/em>in a cabin last spring (&#8220;<strong>Bon Printemps<\/strong>&#8220;?). We love everything about the song, including the single-note vibrato guitar that introduces the swelling strings, but especially its lyrical incisions (see lyrics at bottom).
