Phoebe Bridgers<\/strong><\/a> has been on our minds a year after Bowie<\/strong> died. While a couple other song contenders have reared their heads (e.g., Middle Kids’ <\/a>Edge of Town<\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0Mondo Cozmo’s<\/strong><\/a> Shine<\/strong> <\/em>and Hold On To Me<\/strong><\/em>), our Song Of The Year (So Far)<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0remains\u00a0Bridgers’<\/strong> Smoke Signals<\/strong><\/em>. While at SXSW<\/strong> last week, NPR<\/strong> captured Bridgers<\/strong> in her favored Holiday Inn (or some such hotel), avoiding making the bed and performing Smoke Signals<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Watch below as percussionist Marshall Vore\u00a0<\/strong>adds percussive effects and affecting harmonies to Bridgers’<\/strong> poignant sending of the song.
